The Alkan Society is a membership organisation, based in the UK and registered as an official Charity. Its members are drawn from across the globe.
The Society was founded in 1977 by the late John White and others, with the object of promoting the education of the public in the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the life and work of the French composer and pianist Charles Valentin Alkan (1813-1888).
The Society supports regular recitals of Alkan’s music, produces publications (including our regular Bulletins) as well as providing the definitive source of information on Alkan’s life and works.
